Simply, Diabetes means your blood glucose, or blood sugar, is too high. It can damage your eyes, kidneys (diabetic nephropathy), and nerve damage called diabetic neuropathy.

Basically, the several types of diabetes depend on whether your body makes, doesn't make, uses, or does not properly use needed insulin.  Without enough insulin, too much glucose stays in your blood.

Pre-diabetes.

With prediabetes, your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to signal full-blown diabetes. At this stage the full blown disease can still be prevented.
